Nicky Platt has joined Stalybridge Celtic meaning FC United no longer has a player that shares a name with a Coronation Street character. Other footballers who appear in Corrie include David Platt, Roy Cropper ‘Harris’ and Steve Cristiano McDonaldo.

Former Corrie actor Sam Robertson, who played Adam Baldwin in the best thing on telly, played for the ressies a few times. Which has nowt to do with Nicky Platt, of course, but is interesting all the same.

Platt will be linking up with Steve Torpey at Celtic, and Margy, of course, being the polite sort that he is, wishes him well. As do we.

Meanwhile, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder James Brackenridge has been tempted out of retirement by our culturally significant football team, and has signed up for next season. Brackenridge, who isn’t as old as I’ve just made him sound, is an attacking midfielder and former Manchester city youth team player. According to the fishal site, Margy is apparently delighted to be working with him, and I’m sure Brackers (which’ll surely be his nickname) feels the same.
